Background

The Prison Networking Group (or PNG for short) was a monthly opportunity for me as the Coordinating Chaplain of the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre to meet with my Christian volunteer group leaders, as well as representatives from community agencies that work directly with inmates. It was a time of fellowship that allowed us to update each other on what was going on and to pray together. When I retired on March 31, 2021, I could not bear to lose touch with that amazing network.

I want the PNG to be a place where individual followers of Christ who are interested in prison ministry and inmate aftercare can meet on a regular basis. At present, this means online video conferencing with the following agenda:

  • Welcome
  • Permission to record
  • Group Photo
  • Devotional and Opening Prayer
  • Welcoming new PNG members
  • Business arising from notes from the last meeting
  • Update on OCDC news: Rev. Marvin Sinclair, current Coordinating Chaplain
  • Presentation (if any)
  • Brief sharing by each participant about how their ministry is going and how we can specifically pray for them
  • Next Meeting Date & Time
  • Closing Prayer Time
  • All who can are invited to stay and pray further for the needs expressed in the meeting.
